On social media, former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss declared that he will be retiring from football on Monday.

Thaddeus Moss participated in the LSU national championship team that won the CFP National Championship game in 2019 and defeated Clemson. In Baton Rouge, Thaddeus Moss was a teammate of wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, quarterback Joe Burrow, and wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Randy Moss, a legend in the NFL, is also Thaddeus’ father.
The former tight end for LSU was a part of the recruiting class of 2016. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, he was formerly a four-star talent from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Thaddeus Moss played just one season for the Wolfpack before transferring to LSU to continue his collegiate studies. Owing to NCAA transfer regulations, Moss was forced to miss the 2017 campaign.
He then redshirted again in 2018 due to a leg injury before having a breakout year the following season. Thaddeus Moss became one of the most productive tight ends in LSU history. He recorded 570 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2019. After one season with LSU, Thaddeus Moss ventured to the NFL. He went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and signed with the Washington Football Team. He also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and in the USFL and CFL.
Thaddeus Moss, a former tight end with the Cincinnati Bengals, is retiring from football. The 25-year-old son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, Moss, made his retirement announcement on Twitter and X on Monday afternoon.
Moss never played a snap in Cincinnati other than during the preseason, but he will always be associated with Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow. In the 2019 season, when the Tigers went 15-0 and won the National Championship, he was LSU’s starting tight end.
In fact, during that game, he caught two touchdown passes from Burrow. Moss was a prime UDFA pick after the 2020 NFL Draft because of his collegiate record with Burrow, but the Washington Football Team signed him instead. Following the season, Moss was waived by Washington and quickly signed with the Bengals.

Moss would later catch eight catches for 64 yards and a score in the preseason, which helped him earn a spot on the Bengals practice squad in 2021. During Cincinnati’s march to Super Bowl LVI, he did not take a snap.
After making final cuts in 2022, the Bengals retained Moss for the summer but did not add him to the practice squad. Neither in 2023 nor that year did a team sign him.
Moss played his final game in the NFL while wearing a Bengals uniform, and he was Burrow and Chase’s essential partner.
