Washington State will face Portland State in college football action at Gesa Field at Martin Stadium on Saturday, beginning at 3:00PM ET.
Nearly ten years have passed since Mike Leach and Washington State’s unexpected home loss to Portland State. However, despite PSU’s 9-3 record and FCS Playoff appearance that season, the Viks have only finished 26-53 in Bruce Barnum’s eight years in charge.
PSU finished with a 5-6 record the previous season, and although they played close to Wyoming, Oregon outscored them by 81 points. Two of their five victories were against NAIA schools and a Northern Colorado squad that Wazzu defeated 64-21.
The 2024 college football season will begin with a brief road trip for the Portland State Vikings to Washington State in the first week of play. Portland State enters 2024 coming off a dismal 5 win campaign in which they defeated Northern Colorado by 4 points on the road.
