Jerome Dyson signs on for Stars of Storrs team in The Basketball Tournament

The organisation announced on social media on Wednesday that former UConn men’s basketball guard Jerome Dyson has committed to play for the “Stars of Storrs” in this summer’s The Basketball Tournament. In addition to Ryan Boatright, Joey Calcaterra, and DeAndre Daniels, Dyson is one of 64 alumni from UConn who are competing in the $1 million single-elimination event.
The squad, led by social media celebrity Marc D’Amelio of Norwalk and the D’Amelio Huskies Collective, which assists players in navigating Name, Image, and Likeness problems, will be coached by Huskies all-time top scorer Chris Smith.
Jerome Dyson, who turned 37 recently, spent many pro seasons abroad and played nine NBA games for New Orleans in 2011–12. TBT, which debuted in 2014, will broadcast multiple games on Fox as well as its cable networks FS1 and FS2. July 20–24 is when the Stars of Storrs will play in a regional in Pittsburgh; the title game is scheduled for August 4 in Philadelphia. A player cannot be bound to a team in the NBA.

A team from UConn men’s basketball is competing in The Basketball Tournament. There will be a team with strong ties to UConn in the Basketball Tournament for the first time ever.
The Stars of Storrs feature a number of well-known former players, including Jeff Adrien, Joey Calcaterra, DeAndre Daniels, RJ Cole, and Ryan Boatright, as per an official statement on Wednesday.

Chris Smith, the all-time top leading scorer in men’s basketball at UConn, will serve as the head coach. The D’Amelio Huskies Collective founder Marc D’Amelio is the general manager of the Stars of Storrs as they compete in TBT, a 64-team competition with a $1 million prize. $100,000 will go to the collective if they win College Basketball.
One of eight regionals, the Pittsburgh Regional will be held at the Petersen Events Centre from July 19–23, where the team will compete. It will play former teams from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Penn State, and other universities. They’re going to Connecticut for a few open practices before heading to Pennsylvania.
The quarterfinals are scheduled on July 29 if the Starrs of Storrs go past the region. August 2 and 4 will see the semifinals and finals held on the Drexel University campus in Philadelphia. Read more about Jerome Dyson signs on for Stars of Storrs team
